Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation was formed out of a trust operated by the Council of Forte plc which inherited investments in the Granada Group. The Foundation was registered with the Charity Commissioners in 1997.

Its objects are such general charitable purposes as the Trustees in their discretion may from time to time determine. The Foundation currently distributes over £2 million each year. The average grant awarded by the Foundation is £5,000.

With effect from 1st July 2008, the Trustees have agreed new Guidelines for grants applications. If you have previously received a grant, please check the guidelines carefully to see if you are still eligible to apply. If you have applied recently to the Foundation, your application may still be valid but we advise you to contact us to discuss this if you have not already received a letter of acknowledgement.

The objects of the charity section is intended to help applicants understand the Trustees’ current priorities and to assess whether their projects fit into them. Application is by competitive process and the Trustees’ decisions will reflect their assessment of the relative merits of different applications and the overall balance of demand and the funds available.

In 2005/6, the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation awarded over 300 grants totalling £2.11 million to a multitude of different projects.

The Welsh Assembly Government has made £370,000 available through WCVA to support projects that will bring about a step change in the number of young people volunteering and the diversity of volunteers.

The aim of the new Russell Commission Youth Volunteering Grants scheme is to support the delivery and promotion of a wide range of new volunteering opportunities by third sector organisations in Wales, especially for disadvantaged young people.  Separate application packs are available for ‘Opportunities’ or ‘Promotion’ grants.

Priority young people:
